CBSA begins construction on new Patterson Point of Entry
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is replacing the Patterson Point of Entry with a new, state-of-the-art facility. The project is part of a $481 million Land Border Crossing Project initiated in June 2021 to upgrade 24 land border points of entry across Canada.
Area B Director Linda Worley hosted a community meeting in Rossland to address resident concerns regarding the construction's impact on neighboring private properties and to dispel rumors. The CBSA assured attendees that the new building will be constructed within the existing site footprint and that demolition and construction will be managed gradually to maintain ongoing site operations.
Construction began in July and is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2028. The project follows environmental evaluations conducted by WSP Engineering starting in 2018.
