CBSA begins modernization of Paterson, B.C. port of entry

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has commenced construction to modernize the Paterson port of entry in British Columbia. The project aims to improve the border crossing experience for travelers and commercial carriers while providing officers with updated infrastructure and technology to enhance security.

Key upgrades to the facility include enhanced functional space, additional area for secondary inspections—including an enclosed garage—and a new inspection booth capable of processing both commercial and passenger vehicles. The port of entry will remain operational throughout the construction process.

A $18.1 million contract was awarded to Greyback Construction Ltd. to execute the work, which is expected to be completed by 2028. As part of an Indigenous Participation Plan, Greyback has committed to subcontracting work to a supplier from the Osoyoos Indian Band (OIB) for a minimum of five per cent of the total contract value.
