CCCB announces 25 shortlisted projects for European Prize for Urban Public Space

The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) has announced the 25 shortlisted projects for the European Prize for Urban Public Space. This year's edition saw a record 381 submissions from 38 countries.

The shortlisted projects represent 14 different countries and include interventions in major cities such as Paris, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Lisbon, Brussels, Vienna, and Warsaw, as well as various smaller towns and landscapes. A significant portion of the selection—21 of the 25 projects—is focused on landscape architecture, addressing ecological concerns through projects ranging from small urban courtyards to major waterfront and infrastructural transformations.

An international jury, chaired by architect Eva Prats, evaluated the entries based on social impact, spatial quality, material sensibility, and their relationship with the existing urban fabric. The five finalists are scheduled to be announced on 9 September, with final presentations and the winner announcement taking place at the CCCB in October.
