Cáceres celebrates Heritage Nights and UNESCO anniversary

The city of Cáceres is celebrating the ‘Noches del Patrimonio’ (Heritage Nights) this weekend, featuring an extensive program of music, dance, theater, and exhibitions. This edition is particularly significant as it coincides with the 40th anniversary of Cáceres being declared a UNESCO World Heritage site.

To commemorate the anniversary, 40 different spaces and 40 activities have been organized. Many historical sites, palaces, museums, and churches will remain open until midnight on Friday and Saturday. Notable locations include the Palacio de Carvajal, the Sala de Arte el Brocense, and the Museo Pedrilla-Casa Guayasamín.

A major highlight of the event is the opening of the Mayoralgo Palace archaeological site, which contains Roman remains dating back over 2,000 years. The Diputación de Cáceres is working toward making visits to this site a permanent feature for the public.
