Argentina imposes heavy‑truck limits on Buenos Aires routes and extends 2012 long‑distance bus service

The Buenos Aires provincial transport authority announced that, from Friday 24 July to Sunday 26 July 2026, trucks weighing more than 7 tonnes will be barred from using Autovía 2, Provincial Routes 11, 36, 56, 63, 74 and the Buenos Aires–La Plata highway. The measure aims to ease traffic and reduce accident risk on tourist corridors, with exemptions for certain goods, emergency vehicles and other specified transports.

Separately, the national government issued a decree extending the authorization for 2012‑model long‑distance buses to operate nationwide until 31 December 2026. The extension, covering 559 units, requires quarterly mandatory technical inspections and is intended to keep inter‑jurisdictional passenger service running while a legislative reform of vehicle‑age rules is considered.
