Cáceres man arrested for stealing copper cable from solar plant

A 41-year-old man has been arrested in Cáceres following a theft at a solar power plant. The arrest occurred during the night of September 5 as part of surveillance operations conducted by the Guardia Civil to prevent crimes at solar installations.

Officers observed a suspicious van parked on a path near the facility. Upon inspection, authorities discovered approximately 100 meters of copper cabling in a coil, which investigators believe was stolen from the plant. The vehicle also contained tools, including a cutter and a winch, allegedly used to extract the wiring.

Agents identified a hole in the plant's perimeter fence used to gain access to the site. The suspect has been placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority in Cáceres. The operation was carried out with the collaboration of the Cáceres Local Police.
