Cáceres murder investigation awaits new psychiatric report

The defense for a man accused of murdering his partner in May 2025 in Aldeanueva del Camino, Cáceres, is awaiting a new psychiatric expert report. The legal team intends to challenge the previous findings from the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML) of Cáceres regarding the defendant's mental state and accountability at the time of the crime.

The defense argues that the initial forensic report contains technical gaps. The requested evaluation aims to analyze the defendant's cognitive and volitional capacities—specifically his ability to understand the nature and consequences of his actions. The defendant has remained in provisional prison since May 27 of last year, and the case continues in the Cáceres Court for Violence Against Women.
