Cáceres strengthens school nutrition and family farming support

The municipality of Cáceres has reported significant advancements in its school nutrition program for the first half of 2026. Mayor Eliene Liberato Dias reviewed data regarding meal quality, nutritional assessments, and the expansion of self-service dining models in schools.

Key developments include the implementation of self-service systems in 28 elementary schools and two early childhood education units. Nutritional evaluations were conducted for over 600 early childhood students, and 83 students with specific dietary needs received individualized monitoring. Additionally, student acceptability tests for new recipes showed high approval rates, ranging from approximately 89% to 98%.

The program also emphasizes local sustainability, with family farming providing more than 50% of the products used in school meals.
