Cáceres water treatment plant project triggers land expropriations

The construction of the new El Marcode water treatment plant in Cáceres is advancing toward a scheduled start in October. The Tagus Hydrographic Confederation (CHT) has initiated the expropriation process for 14 properties affected by the project.

On September 1, owners will meet at the Cáceres City Council to complete the preliminary occupation records. The expropriation involves 58,411 square meters of permanent land, 7,309 square meters subject to easements, and 22,700 square meters for temporary occupation. Affected parties include the Cáceres City Council, the Junta de Extremadura, the Tagus Hydrographic Confederation, various commercial companies, and private owners.

The project has been declared a matter of general state interest since 2009, allowing for the urgent occupation of necessary assets. Administrative approval was granted by the General Directorate of Water following technical supervision by Acuaes.
