Cícero Lucena proposes highest police salaries in Northeast

Cícero Lucena's government plan for Paraíba includes proposals to make the state's Military Police the highest-paid security force in the Northeast region. The plan, detailed by coordinator Thiago Lucena, aims to value security professionals, including civil police, firefighters, and penal officers, through promotions and the payment of retroactive career values.

To fund these increases, the administration may need to review and cut other government expenses. The security strategy also emphasizes crime prevention through community policing, improved public lighting, and the application of CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) methodologies.

Additionally, the plan proposes the decommissioning of the Presídio do Roger in João Pessoa, contingent upon the completion and equipping of new facilities, such as the Gurinhém Penitentiary Complex. The proposal includes a “Productive Penitentiary Complex” model, which seeks to install industrial activities near prisons to provide inmate employment, facilitate sentence reduction, and generate revenue for the prison system.
