CCOO calls for reindustrialization in El Bierzo to secure youth employment

The Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) union has called for active industrial policies and increased investment to drive reindustrialization in the El Bierzo region. This demand follows the V Employment, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Fair held in Ponferrada, which saw significant participation from young students, university attendees, and job seekers.

While CCOO noted the high turnout of qualified youth from vocational training sectors—including electricity, marketing, and commercial activities—the union warned that training alone is insufficient. They emphasized that without stable, high-quality job opportunities created through industrial projects, the region will continue to struggle with the exodus of skilled workers. The union is urging public administrations to implement policies that transform educational training into real economic opportunities within the community.
