CCOO union raises labor concerns in Toledo healthcare services

The Comisiones Obreras (CCOO) union has raised several labor and professional grievances regarding healthcare services in Toledo, Spain.

In the sanitary transport sector, the union is demanding official recognition for the professional category of Emergency Health Technicians (TES) within the Castilla-La Mancha Health Service (Sescam). CCOO argues that these qualified professionals are essential to the care chain, yet they lack official status, adequate pay, and sufficient staffing levels.

Separately, CCOO has denounced unsustainable working conditions for cleaning staff at the Toledo University Hospital (HUT). The union alleges that the contractor, ISS Facility Services, is deliberately cutting costs, leading to staff shortages, labor exploitation, and harassment. Workers reported that a single employee may be forced to clean up to three floors, contributing to increased medical leave due to anxiety and exhaustion. In response, cleaning staff have agreed to initiate weekly work stoppages during break periods.
