CD Eldense shares face embargo amid potential sale to Lionel Messi
A Madrid court has ordered a preventive embargo on 499 shares of CD Eldense, representing approximately 15.8% of the club's capital. The shares are owned by former president Carolina Holguin following a legal dispute with the club's previous owner, Pascual Perez.
The conflict stems from the October 2025 sale of the club for 6.294 million euros. While Holguin assumed existing debts during the transaction, Perez filed a lawsuit alleging an unpaid loan of nearly one million euros granted in late 2025. The court's decision to seize a proportional amount of shares serves as a precautionary measure pending a trial regarding the non-payment.
This legal development occurs as the club moves toward a sale to footballer Lionel Messi. The acquisition is currently under evaluation by Spain's Consejo Superior de Deportes. The embargo is a personal legal matter involving Holguin and does not directly affect the club's operations or the ongoing process of Messi's potential acquisition.
