CD Projekt RED announces The Witcher 3 Remastered and The Witcher 4 details

CD Projekt RED has announced the global release of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered for September 29, 2026. The update will be available on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and as a separate product for Nintendo Switch 2. For existing owners of the original game, the remaster will be provided as a free upgrade. The download size is expected to be approximately 45 GB for PC, PS5, and Xbox, and roughly 50 GB for the Nintendo Switch 2.

The remaster includes visual and gameplay enhancements such as improved combat, revamped skill trees, enhanced monster behaviors, and new Witcher sign effects. However, some fans have expressed concerns regarding certain graphical changes, specifically noting the absence of certain reflections in water.

Looking toward the future, CD Projekt RED co-CEO Adam Badowski provided insights into the development of The Witcher 4, which is slated for a 2028 release and will feature Ciri as the protagonist. Badowski emphasized that the studio is prioritizing narrative depth and moral ambiguity, noting that the script is frequently rewritten to maximize emotional impact. The new title will be developed using Unreal Engine 5 and aims to evolve the combat mechanics established in the previous installment.
