CD Projekt Red Targets Player Trust Recovery with The Witcher 4

Co‑CEO Michał Nowakowski said the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was "heartbreaking" and admitted the studio "lost the faith of some people indefinitely," adding he is not "100 percent convinced we have completed the full redemption arc." While the game has since sold over 35 million copies and received major patches, he said CD Projekt Red still aims to win back players with its upcoming title The Witcher 4, which has no set release window. The studio stresses it will not become a company that releases a big game every year, maintaining a ten‑year rolling plan focused on quality over quantity. In parallel, CDPR is developing a new Witcher 3 expansion, Songs of the Past, slated for 2027, and has hired a former GTA 6 designer to work on the DLC. Nowakowski also warned that fully AI‑generated games risk becoming “mass‑market junk” and stressed the need for original, soulful ideas.
