CD Projekt RED rejects Studio Trigger proposals to destroy Night City

CD Projekt RED has declined several creative proposals from Studio Trigger regarding the development of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series. According to showrunner Bartosz Sztybor and executive producer Saya Elder, the Japanese animation studio frequently suggested narrative directions that would involve the total destruction of Night City and the Arasaka corporation.

While CD Projekt RED aims to provide animators with significant artistic freedom and seeks compromises to develop ideas, they have maintained strict boundaries to ensure continuity with the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. To manage controversial concepts, developers like Patrick Mills assist in finding solutions that preserve creativity without violating the established lore of the franchise.

Separately, fans of the series have successfully identified in-game locations featured in the anime. Using visual cues such as architecture and landmarks, players have located the residence of the character Roman within the Kabuki district of Watson in Cyberpunk 2077.
