CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2 evolves beyond original vision

CD Projekt RED's Game Director Gabe Amatangelo has revealed that the development of Cyberpunk 2 is evolving away from his original solo vision due to the growing influence of the development team. As the project expands, Amatangelo is moving away from his initial designs to embrace a collaborative approach that empowers individual team members to contribute to the creative process.

The project currently involves more than 180 developers. This expansion includes significant growth in the company's North American operations, specifically within its Boston-based studio, which initially began with only eight employees.

Amatangelo described the shift as a way to ensure the game reflects the 'hearts and souls of the team' rather than a single person's idea. He noted that while he had a specific concept at the start, the involvement of a larger workforce is transforming the game into something different from his initial plans.
