CD Projekt Red seeks redemption after Cyberpunk 2077, unveils new comic and prepares Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red continues to grapple with the fallout from the controversial 2020 launch of Cyberpunk 2077, which suffered severe technical criticism and led to refunds and a temporary removal from the PlayStation Store. Co‑director Michał Nowakowski said the studio has regained some player goodwill but acknowledges that part of its pre‑launch reputation may be permanently damaged, and the firm hopes the upcoming The Witcher 4, planned for 2027, will serve as a decisive test of its ability to rebuild trust.

In addition to the Witcher project, CDPR announced a new tie‑in comic series, Cyberpunk 2077: Jayk’s Case, through Dark Horse. The four‑issue murder‑mystery set in Night City follows a private investigator uncovering a larger conspiracy and is scheduled for release on 21 October 2026, with the first issue priced at $4.99. The comic is written by Jordan Thomas, illustrated by Nicola Izzo, colored by Igor Monti, and lettered by Frank Cvetkovic. With the next full Cyberpunk sequel not expected before 2030, the comic aims to keep fans engaged while the studio focuses on The Witcher 4.
