Czech Chance Liga opener: Liberec thrash Viktoria, Zbrojovka down Sparta

The first round of the Czech Republic’s top‑flight Chance Liga produced several surprise results. Liberec defeated the title‑challengers Viktoria Plzeň 3‑1, with an early own‑goal by Tomáš Ladra and a penalty conversion by Dávid Krčík sealing the win. In Brno, Zbrojovka Brno returned to the elite after three years, beating Sparta Prague 3‑1 thanks to goals from Daniel Vašulín, Tadeáš Vachoušek and Lucky Ezeh. Baník Ostrava opened their campaign with a narrow 1‑0 win over Zlín, the decisive strike coming from Václav Jurečka. Teplice hosted Bohemians 1905 and secured a 3‑1 victory, highlighted by a double from Matěj Pulkrab.

Managerial reactions followed the results: Zbrojovka coach Martin Svědík praised his side’s performance, while Viktoria Plzeň boss Martin Hyský accepted responsibility for his team’s poor start, describing the squad as “tied‑legged” and vowing improvement in the next match. The round set an early tone for a competitive season across the league.
