Real Oviedo defeats Sporting de Gijón 2-0 in Asturian derby

Real Oviedo secured a 2-0 victory over Sporting de Gijón in the Asturian derby at the Carlos Tartiere stadium. This win marks Oviedo's first home victory of the current LaLiga Hypermotion season.

Chris Ramos opened the scoring in the 8th minute after capitalizing on a defensive error, though he was forced to leave the pitch due to injury immediately after the goal. The match shifted decisively in the 73rd minute when Sporting's César Gelabert was sent off following a VAR review for a hard challenge.

With a man advantage, Oviedo sealed the win in the 82nd minute through Enzo Pérez, a youth academy player who scored shortly after entering the game. The victory breaks Oviedo's home win drought and ends Sporting's five-match unbeaten streak in derbies.

Oviedo manager Julián Calero has been noted for his ability to manage the squad and connect with players, a leadership style highlighted amidst the team's recent competitive challenges.
