CDA to allocate 20 acres for National Museum in Bhara Kahu

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) plans to allocate 20 acres of land in Bhara Kahu, Islamabad, for the National Museum of Pakistan. This allocation is part of a larger proposed 160-acre museum complex that is intended to house several national heritage and military museums, including separate facilities for the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force.

The project was originally slated for Shakarparian, where the CDA had provided three of the required eight acres. Following discussions between the federal interior minister and the CDA chairman, the location was shifted to Bhara Kahu to accommodate the expanded museum complex.

Under the proposed arrangement, the CDA will be responsible for providing the land and constructing the National Museum building, while the Ministry of National Heritage and Culture will oversee the museum’s operations and maintenance. Senate Standing Committee members have emphasized that the facility must meet national standards to ensure the proper preservation of historical collections.
