CDC Bénin invests in Enko Capital SME strategy

CDC Bénin has joined Enko Capital’s Francophone West Africa SME strategy as an institutional investor. Rather than financing individual companies directly, the sovereign fund is adopting a ‘fund of funds’ model to deploy capital through specialized managers capable of identifying and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) across the region.

The investment is channeled through the Enko PME alternative investment fund, which has a target size of 20 billion FCFA. While the specific amount committed by CDC Bénin remains undisclosed, the fund already manages a diverse portfolio, including nine Burger King restaurant locations in Côte d’Ivoire and an electric-vehicle charging infrastructure provider, EV. Tech.

This strategic shift follows a $330,000 grant from the African Development Bank in February 2026, intended to strengthen CDC Bénin’s capacity to implement its SME investment strategies in Benin and West Africa.
