CDC Data Centres proposes $15 billion campus in Gregadoo
CDC Data Centres has lodged a proposal to develop a $15 billion data centre campus at Gregadoo, near Wagga Wagga. The massive project would span approximately 63 hectares and include four buildings totaling about 189,000 square metres of floor space. At full capacity, the facility could require up to 1.4 gigawatts of electricity.
Wagga Wagga City Council described the proposal as a “generational economic, investment and workforce opportunity” that could support local contractors, create skilled employment, and drive construction activity. However, the Wagga Residents and Ratepayers Association is demanding full transparency and proper consultation regarding the development.
Because the project is being assessed as a State Significant Development, the NSW Government will serve as the final decision-maker rather than the local council. The planning process is currently in the early stages of preparing requirements for an environmental assessment, which will eventually include a detailed environmental impact statement for public exhibition.
