Cádiz adjusts Baluarte de la Candelaria closing time to sunset

The Cádiz City Council has announced a change to the closing hours of the Baluarte de la Candelaria promenade. Instead of the previous fixed closing time of 21:00, the area will now close ten minutes after sunset.

This adjustment aims to balance public enjoyment with safety. By aligning the schedule with natural light levels, the city intends to prevent accidents such as trips or falls that could occur if the promenade were closed during periods of low visibility. The new policy allows residents and tourists to continue viewing the sunset from the elevated location in the Alameda, a highly requested activity, while ensuring the space is vacated safely as light fades throughout the year.
