Cádiz beaches reopen after water quality improvements

The Junta de Andalucía has lifted the swimming ban at three of the five beaches in Cádiz that were temporarily closed due to high levels of Escherichia coli (E. coli) and enterococci.

Swimming is now permitted at La Cachucha in Puerto Real, Aculadero-Puerto Sherry in El Puerto de Santa María, and Punta Candor in Rota. These decisions follow follow-up water quality analyses conducted on August 27 and 28, which confirmed that microbiological parameters have returned to safe levels.

However, restrictions remain in place at other locations. The beach in Micaela, Chipiona, remains closed due to elevated microbiological concentrations. Additionally, the status of Fuentebravía beach in El Puerto de Santa María has been downgraded from a total ban to a recommendation against swimming, as indicator levels have decreased but have not yet reached required quality standards.
