Cádiz bus service tender suspended by administrative court
The suspension of the tender for Cádiz's new urban bus service has drawn sharp criticism from opposition groups PSOE and Adelante Izquierda Gaditana (AIG). The Administrative Court of Contractual Appeals of the Cádiz Provincial Council issued a precautionary suspension of the procedure following appeals filed by four companies regarding the tender specifications.
Opposition leaders have questioned the municipal government's response, which characterized such legal challenges as “very common” in high-value contracts. PSOE spokesperson Óscar Torres described the administration's stance as “lamentable,” warning that the suspension could further delay a process that is already facing extended timelines. The contract in question is valued at over 215 million euros and is intended to span 12 years. As a contingency, the PSOE has suggested exploring bus rental or leasing options to mitigate potential service disruptions.
