Cádiz CF replaces Imanol Idiakez with Albert Celades

Cádiz CF has announced the departure of manager Imanol Idiakez and the appointment of Albert Celades as his successor. The coaching change occurs just four days before the start of the 2026/2027 La Liga Hypermotion season.

The club stated that the separation from Idiakez was by mutual agreement. However, reports indicate the decision followed growing tensions regarding squad composition and disagreements over sporting decisions. Discrepancies between the manager's requests for new signings—specifically defenders and midfielders—and the club's internal planning are cited as contributing factors to the split.

Albert Celades, a former player for Barcelona and Real Madrid who has previously managed Valencia and the Spanish youth national teams, has signed a two-season contract. Celades has already begun leading training sessions and will manage the team's upcoming match against Celta Fortuna this Saturday.
