Cádiz fatal bus accident trial suspended indefinitely

The trial regarding a fatal bus accident in Cádiz has been suspended indefinitely without a new date set. The postponement follows a last-minute request from the driver's new legal counsel, who cited the need for additional time to review the extensive case files after the previous lawyer was forced to step down due to health issues. The prosecution has granted this request.

The accident, which occurred nearly three years ago, resulted in the deaths of four pedestrians—a 17-year-old, a 19-year-old, a 60-year-old woman, and an 86-year-old man. The bus lost control on the Constitution of 1812 Bridge, striking pedestrians on the sidewalk. The prosecution is seeking five years of prison for both the driver and the bus company owner, alleging manslaughter due to negligence, noting that the vehicle had reported braking issues since 2021.
