Cádiz fire brigade to hire over 50 staff after salary raise

A new collective agreement in the Cádiz Province Fire Brigade (CBPC) raises firefighters' salaries by about €200 gross per month, representing an average annual increase of roughly €7,900 per worker. The pay rise is tied to a restructuring plan that aims to fill more than 50 vacancies that have persisted for years.

The consortium has launched selection processes to recruit 41 new firefighters, 23 senior crew‑chiefs, and additional sub‑inspectors and sergeants. A pool of interim staff will also be created to provide flexible coverage. Funding for 15 new posts will be covered by the provincial government in 2027, while the 2026 budget of over €46 million includes resources for further hires and equipment upgrades.

Union representatives have warned that the shortage of personnel, especially during the hot summer months, strains emergency response. The consortium says the agreed roadmap with unions and local authorities is being followed to gradually restore full staffing levels across the province’s 20 fire stations and two central hubs.
