Cádiz group moves to save Medussa Music Bar from closure

The municipal group Adelante Izquierda Gaditana (AIG) will present a motion in the upcoming September plenary session of Cádiz to support the preservation of Medussa Music Bar. The establishment, a long-standing venue for alternative culture and independent music in the historic center, faces closure after 24 years of operation.

The situation arose after a developer from Seville acquired the property to build luxury housing and decided not to renew the current lease. Consequently, the venue's operators must vacate the premises by November 1. The ‘Somos Medussa’ citizen platform is calling on the Cádiz City Council to recognize the venue's cultural value and prevent the ground floor from being converted exclusively to residential use.
