Cádiz launches medium beach season with expanded services and police patrols

The municipality of Cádiz began the medium beach season on 16 June, extending the operating hours of municipal beach services to 11:00‑21:00 daily until 30 June. The expanded schedule covers lifeguard posts, beach modules, integrated‑access areas and tourist information points at the four main city beaches – La Caleta, Santa María del Mar, Victoria and Cortadura. Deputy mayor for Environment and Beaches José Carlos Teruel highlighted the additional staff and the first‑time presence of a dedicated police module at Santa María del Mar.

During the first weekend, local police assisted four bathers with health issues, intervened in an altercation between two groups at Santa María del Mar, and confiscated 18 balloons from youths disturbing other beachgoers. Police also filed three administrative fines for unlicensed street‑vendor activity. The authorities urged visitors to respect beach rules as the season moves toward the high‑season period starting 1 July.
