Cádiz residents protest proposed changes to bus Line 2

A citizen initiative in Cádiz to maintain the current route of bus Line 2 has gained significant momentum, collecting over 2,500 signatures. The movement has received new endorsements from several local groups, including the Gaditana Association of People with Physical Disabilities (AGADI), the Segunda Aguada Neighborhood Association, and the Cádiz Centro Neighborhood Association.

Protesters are opposing proposed changes in a new tender that would merge Line 2 with Line 3, potentially eliminating direct connections. Advocates argue that while modernizing the fleet and increasing frequency is positive, the resulting need for transfers would disproportionately affect residents and people with reduced mobility. AGADI specifically warned that transfers present significant logistical hurdles for wheelchair users, such as reliance on functioning bus ramps.

Organizers are preparing for a meeting this coming Monday with Cádiz Mayor Bruno García to present their rejection of the modifications and propose alternative routes that preserve direct service.
