Cádiz residents report light pollution from new sports complex floodlights

The PSOE municipal group in Cádiz has filed a complaint regarding the new lighting towers installed at the Puntales-La Paz Sports Complex. Residents living near the Pedro Fernández and Manuel Irigoyen football fields report that the intense light from the new floodlights is significantly impacting their homes.

Socialist representatives attribute the issue to a lack of technical planning and oversight by the Municipal Sports Institute (IMD). They claim the project focused solely on sporting requirements while ignoring the proximity of residential buildings and failing to comply with Decree 37/2025, which regulates light pollution protection in Andalusia.

The group also noted that the IMD has been without a technical manager for several months, contributing to the management vacuum. They are demanding immediate rectification and accountability, warning that the poor initial planning will likely require additional municipal spending to correct.
