Cádiz sports club reports massive waste dumping at Elcano Nautical Center

The El Club Kayak de Mar de Cádiz has filed a formal complaint with the Guardia Civil’s Nature Protection Service (SEPRONA) regarding massive waste dumping at the Elcano Nautical Center pier in Cádiz.

Following a cleanup effort conducted by the sports association, members reported finding large quantities of plastics, cans, fishing lines with hooks, and bait containers abandoned by fishermen. The association noted that the waste poses a significant risk to both human health and local fauna, specifically highlighting birds that have been found with hooks embedded in their beaks. The group has requested that the complaint be forwarded to the Environmental Prosecutor's Office to determine if these actions constitute a criminal offense under the Spanish Penal Code.
