Cdp Equity acquires stake in 2i Aeroporti

Cdp Equity, the holding company of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, is acquiring an 8.9% stake in 2i Aeroporti, Italy’s primary airport platform. This marks the group’s first direct investment in the aviation sector, aimed at supporting consolidation, digitalization, and decarbonization across Italian airports.

The acquisition involves taking an 8% share from the European infrastructure fund Asterion Industrial Partners and a 0.9% share from the F2i-managed Third Fund. Following the transaction, which is expected to conclude by the end of the year, the ownership structure of 2i Aeroporti will consist of F2i with 50.1%, Asterion with 41%, and Cdp Equity with 8.9%.

2i Aeroporti manages significant infrastructure, including Milan Malpensa, Linate, Turin, Naples, Salerno, and Northern Sardinia, as well as Trieste Airport. The platform handles approximately 80 million passengers annually and manages 70% of Italy’s air cargo. Cdp Equity will hold relevant governance rights and a right of first refusal should the existing funds exit.
