CDU headquarters targeted by Robin Wood climbing protest in Berlin

Activists from the group Robin Wood staged a climbing protest at the CDU party headquarters, the Konrad-Adenauer-Haus, in Berlin on Wednesday morning. The activists scaled the building and rappelled down the facade to hang a large red banner.

The banner displayed the message: “Klare Kante gegen rechts – Sozialabbau beenden, Klimakrise bekämpfen!” (Clear stance against the right – end social cuts, fight the climate crisis!). The banner partially covered a portrait of Stefan Evers, the CDU's top candidate for Berlin.

The protest targets the CDU-led government's climate policies and its response to the rise of right-wing extremism. Robin Wood representatives stated that social justice is essential to countering the rise of the AfD, arguing that climate and social policies must work together to prevent energy poverty and protect human rights over profits.

Berlin police responded to the incident after security staff discovered unauthorized individuals on the roof. Approximately 30 officers were deployed to the site, and high-angle rescue teams were utilized to secure the activists.
