CE Europa fans display estelades to protest perceived restrictions on freedoms
CE Europa fans filled the Can Dragó stadium with ‘estelades’ (independence flags) during the club’s season opener against Jaén. The initiative was organized by the club to protest against perceived police abuse and the restriction of individual freedoms, specifically the freedom of expression, within sporting venues.
The club issued a statement following similar incidents involving FC Barcelona fans, including police interventions and detentions during away matches in cities such as Madrid, Murcia, and Huesca. CE Europa, describing itself as a century-old entity committed to democracy and social causes, called on other Catalan sports organizations to join this movement to protect civil liberties in football.
