CEA fines Aquos 30 million pesos for aqueduct failures

The State Water Commission (CEA) has imposed 30 million pesos in penalties against the company Aquos el Realito S. A. de C. V. following six technical failures in the El Realito aqueduct during 2026.

Pascual Martínez Sánchez, director general of the CEA, stated that each service suspension results in a fine of approximately 5 million pesos. The state government implements these sanctions by deducting the amounts from the company’s monthly billing. While some recent disruptions were attributed to electrical system issues caused by storms rather than physical infrastructure, the CEA continues to apply penalties when water supply is interrupted for several days.
