Cea residents protest unlicensed scrapyard and environmental risks

Residents of Cea, in the municipality of Vilagarcía, have organized a protest to demand solutions to a decades-long issue involving a scrapyard that reportedly operates without a license.

Local neighbors and their association claim the accumulation of scrap metal has severely impacted mobility, public health, and the environment. Specific concerns include the presence of hazardous materials like asbestos and the increased risk of forest fires. Residents also reported that the business has occupied public land, including a road owned by the Xunta, which has hindered vehicle access to nearby properties.
