Ceabien announces water sanitation plan for Oaxaca
Neftalí Amigdael López Hernández, head of the State Water Commission for Wellbeing (Ceabien), has announced a sanitation plan for the final quarter of 2026 in Oaxaca. The initiative includes the launch of ten wastewater treatment plants (PTAR) in locations such as San Ildefonso Villa Alta, San Mateo Cajonos, Puerto Escondido, and Santa María Huatulco.
The plan also involves constructing at least three sanitary collectors and storm drainage systems. Specifically, Ceabien is working on collectors in Santa Cruz Xoxocotlán to prevent sewage from discharging directly into the Atoyac River, redirecting it to the La Raya treatment plant. Additionally, sanitation efforts will target the Los Perros River in the Istmo de Tehuantepec.
