Ceagesp implements emergency relief after São Paulo pavilion fire

Following a fire on September 5 that destroyed a pavilion at Ceagesp in São Paulo, the company has initiated emergency measures to support affected merchants. The blaze destroyed approximately 320 fruit commercialization boxes, impacting over one hundred businesses, including retailers, restaurants, and packaging companies.

Ceagesp has waived rents and fees for affected merchants, refunded previous payments, and reinforced local infrastructure with lighting, internet, and security. A plan is underway to temporarily relocate 124 merchants to the E2 parking area, which will be equipped with cold storage and restrooms. While cleaning and damage assessment begin on September 14, the full reconstruction of the destroyed section is estimated to take 12 months.

FecomercioSP has expressed solidarity with the victims and used the incident to call for the full revitalization of Ceagesp. The federation is advocating for the modernization of warehouses, electrical networks, and fire prevention systems, as well as a discussion regarding the potential relocation of the wholesale market to a more suitable area to meet current scale and safety needs.
