Ceará football refereeing chief ordered to wear electronic anklet

Paulo Silvio dos Santos, the President of the Refereeing Commission of the Ceará Football Federation (FCF), has been ordered by the Court of Justice of the State of Ceará to wear an electronic monitoring anklet. The decision follows an indictment for sexual harassment and sexual importuning.

The court granted protective measures for one of the four female referees accusing dos Santos. He is prohibited from contacting the referee or her family members via phone, messaging apps, or social media. Additionally, he must maintain a minimum distance of 300 meters from the accuser and is barred from contacting witnesses in the case.

The Civil Police of the State of Ceará concluded an investigation in July regarding allegations of sexual misconduct against referees within the federation. Judge Adriana da Cruz Dantas noted there were sufficient elements to grant the requested measures. Dos Santos, who is currently on leave from his position, faces preventive arrest if he fails to comply with the monitoring requirements.
