Goiás dismisses coach Daniel Paulista after winless run

Goiás Esporte Clube announced on 24 June 2026 that it had terminated the contract of head coach Daniel Paulista following a 3‑0 defeat to Operário‑PR, which marked the club’s fourth consecutive match without a win in Brazil’s Série B. In his tenure the coach oversaw 33 matches with a record of 15 wins, 11 draws and seven losses, achieving a 56.57 % overall points rate and guiding the team to the 2026 Campeonato Goiano title, breaking an eight‑year drought.

The dismissal comes as the club faces criticism from supporters and a points tally of 18 from a possible 42, leaving Goiás in 12th place in the second division. Meanwhile, rival Série B side Ceará, currently 14th, has expressed interest in hiring Paulista, while also considering Argentine manager Mariano Soso for the position.

The club thanked Paulista and his staff for their professionalism and highlighted the state‑championship success before confirming that the team will face Náutico in its next league match.
