CEAV to increase oversight of public travel agency tenders
The new Executive Committee of the Spanish Confederation of Travel Agencies (CEAV), led by President José Manuel Lastra, has pledged to increase oversight of public tenders involving travel agency services. This initiative targets contracts issued by the General State Administration, regional governments, and other public bodies.
The move follows a massive legal challenge against the CORA contract, a centralized tender for managing state travel services. CEAV has joined other industry associations, such as GEBTA and UNAV, in filing appeals against the tender specifications. The objections specifically focus on how contract lots are configured and the valuation criteria regarding discounts on certain air travel services.
CEAV aims to ensure that public procurement processes reflect the diverse reality of the sector, which includes companies of varying sizes and specializations, and to defend market conditions that allow for fair participation.
