CEBL championship moves to single-game format after Game 1 cancellation

The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) has transitioned its championship format to a single-game final after the first game of the series was cancelled. The matchup between the Winnipeg Sea Bears and the Brampton Honey Badgers at Brampton’s CAA Centre was suspended early in the first period due to condensation on the court, creating unsafe playing conditions.

Because the original best-of-three series could not be completed within the scheduled timeframe, the league decided to hold a single deciding game in Winnipeg this Saturday. All tickets for the cancelled game will be refunded.

In related news, Winnipeg Sea Bears star scorer Teddy Allen has been released from the hospital following a violent altercation at a downtown nightclub. The team reported that Allen is believed to have been assaulted by security during the incident. The Sea Bears, who have recently seen roster changes with players Jeremiah Tilmon Jr. and Emmanuel Akot signing contracts abroad, will rely on veteran Xavier Moon to lead their offense in the championship game.
