Cebu City adopts PLDT and Smart AI-in-a-Box for smarter governance

Metro Cebu launched the PLDT and Smart AI-in-a-Box program, providing participating local government units with a kit that includes a laptop, a smartphone, a Smart connectivity device and premium access to AI tools such as ChatGPT. In a ceremony at Cebu City Hall, Mayor Nestor Archival received the package on behalf of Cebu City, while Lapu‑Lapu City and Talisay City also received their kits.

The initiative combines digital tools, connectivity, training and mentorship through the PLDT‑Smart Foundation to help LGUs turn AI concepts into practical solutions for faster, more responsive public services. Cebu City is one of four pioneer cities nationwide and the sole representative of the Visayas region in the mentorship and acceleration program.
