Cebu Pacific launches foundation for community resilience

Cebu Pacific has launched the Cebu Pacific Foundation Inc. (CPFI) to mark its 30th anniversary. The foundation aims to build resilient communities and promote sustainable tourism through nature-based solutions. By collaborating with government agencies, local organizations, and the private sector, the foundation seeks to reduce climate risks, protect ecosystems, and strengthen local economies.

The foundation’s inaugural initiative is the Resilience & Inclusive Support for Empowerment of Capiz Coastal Communities (RISE Capiz Coast) project. Starting in Barangay Culajao, Roxas City, the project will expand to the municipalities of Ivisan and Panay in Capiz. The initiative targets the restoration of 100 hectares of degraded mangrove forests in its first phase, with a long-term goal of rehabilitating 500 hectares by 2030.

In addition to ecosystem restoration, the project will provide livelihood training and disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation (DRR-CCA) programs for coastal residents. Implementation involves partnerships with the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) and Futures, Inc., a Japan-based climate finance-linked project developer.
