Cebu Province rebrands annual festival as ‘Halad sa Pagtuo’
Cebu Province has rebranded its annual religious and cultural celebration as ‘Halad sa Pagtuo’. The change, requested by Governor Pamela Baricuatro, aims to place greater emphasis on the province’s religious and cultural heritage.
Scheduled for August 29, 2026, the event will feature a procession of 51 carrozas carrying the patron saints of participating towns, traveling from the Cebu Provincial Capitol to the Cebu City Sports Center. The celebration is intended to bring town fiestas into the city, allowing residents to experience key highlights such as the procession and Mass.
According to Provincial tourism head Rowena Montecillo, the festivities will include presentations of local festivals from various local government units. Approximately 50 units are expected to participate, though Alcantara, Daanbantayan, and Cordova will be absent due to conflicting local fiesta schedules.
