Cebu school discovers revolver in 14-year-old student's bag

A .357 Smith & Wesson Magnum revolver was discovered inside the school bag of a 14-year-old student during a surprise inspection at Lut-od National High School in Pinamungajan, Cebu, on August 20.

The unloaded firearm was found by a teacher conducting precautionary bag checks. Initial investigations indicate the weapon allegedly belonged to the student’s grandfather and was taken from a cabinet at the family's residence. The student’s parents are currently working outside the municipality, leaving the minor in the care of his grandparents.

Following school protocols, the student was turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) Office while awaiting parental arrival. Cebu Police Provincial Office Director PCOL Abubakar Udang Mangelen Jr. commended the school staff for their vigilance and proactive safety measures. Police are continuing to investigate the incident and strengthen security coordination with schools across the province.
