Cebu weather: Monsoon rains may impact Halad sa Pagtuo 2026

The southwest monsoon, known locally as habagat, is expected to bring rain showers and thunderstorms to Cebu, potentially impacting the Halad sa Pagtuo 2026 religious festival on Saturday, August 29. The festival, which features approximately 50 carozzas and seven town presentations, anticipates a crowd of 10,000 spectators.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has forecast partly cloudy to cloudy skies for the region. For the weekend, temperatures are expected to range between 27°C and 34°C. Winds are forecast to blow from the southeast or southwest at speeds between 30 and 50 kilometers per hour.

Coastal conditions are expected to be moderate to rough, with wave heights reaching between 1.3 and 3.3 meters. PAGASA has advised that isolated thunderstorms could trigger flash floods or landslides in affected areas. While a low-pressure area was monitored east of Northern Luzon, the monsoon remains the primary driver of the weather conditions in the Visayas.
